This was phase 2 of the construction project of Can Tho International Airport. The terminal has a GCA of 20,750 m2, capable of receiving three million passengers per year. The structure has a special design resembling a dinghy boat, a popular vehicle cá cược bóng đá online the Mekong Delta.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung visited the terminal’s construction site on 28 July 2008 to present gifts and give words of encouragement to the project’s leadership and workers on the site.

The structure’s inauguration ceremony was organized on 1st January 2011.
